In our region the second half of September brings the first frosts.
There will be a warmer time soon, but there are a few mornings when rime covers the landscape.
The sun rays then unwrap the plants from their armor of ice, and the afternoons will be warm.
Then, after those few days the Indian summer returns.
These frosty days this year were last weekend, when we were at the countryside.
I love how the leaves turn yellow,
the dried plants,
the first rays of sun in the morning,
the colorful fruits,
the last flowers
When knitting in the swing I drank tea.
In the evening I went to the surroundings of the village and up on the hills.
I saw deer, foxes and bears - but the light then was really poor for pictures.
The only evening photo I have is that of the church and the moon.
I have plans for next weekend, I hope they will come true. Hopefully ice-free.

Socks
I do not know how many pairs I knitted since I did not write about them.
A few of them are here
The first one I cast on in 2016 (I guess), then I became bored and put it away. I found it last year (or the beginning of this year?) and finished it.
Nothing special. Two at a time, toe up vanilla socks.
With fish lips kiss heel.
The second one started with the mood of knitting for myself a pair of pink and purple socks. So I did.
The pattern is Stay-at-home socks, and this is the first pair (I think) that I knitted two at a time, but cuff down.
Also with fish lips kiss heel.
This is the pair I had on my feet, when I had my coffee in the swing last weekend.
The next pair will be a gift soon.
This was one of my portable summer projects. This is also Stay-at-home socks, size 42-43. It will go to its owner at the end of October.
I then have another pair almost done.
This is the pair I knitted to learn the afterthought heel, and I still have the heels to knit, and I plan to finish it on Tuesday, when I will be at the hospital with Klári, to remove the rod from her broken arm.
And there is another pair in progress. Two at a time, cuff down, plain vanilla. I should start the heels now.
Size 45. I have a lot more to work on this one
I also have a finished pair of fair-isle socks, but that needs a whole post.
And now I start to prepare for the weekend.
At home.

5:20
This morning B had some early morning program with his mother, this is why I also woke up early. I set the clock-alarm to 5:30, but I woke up at 5:20, and got up.
The children were still aspleep, it was quiet. I took my coffee and i started to read and knit. With this Harvest it is possible, I am knitting and purling long rows, and it is so soothing.
I do not know when was the last time I had such a pleasant hour.
Later I could see the light before sunrise.
I had time for everything. Even for breakfast.
I think this is the direction I should move in order to have some me-time. Because at any other period of a day I cannot be alone. The children wake up at 7, by themselves at times, then prepare them for school, then I must go to work, then in the afternoon everybody is at home and I have chores to do, and since school begun there is learning too. Later in the evening we prepare for the night: bath, dinner, reading, and when we finished all, I too fall asleep. So I lost myself in all this.
I think, this will be the solution.
I get up, have a coffee in the calmness, while I can read, knit, listen to music - and it is a better start for the day.
Today it sure was.

Middle of September
I love Fridays. As we still live in both our homes Friday means leaving the city, the noise, the dust and the crowd and until Sundays we spend our time in calmness.
I take my yarn-y project with me, I love knitting outdoors.
This cardi fits the season really well.
I love September, when summer is officially over, but it is not yet really autumn.
This season has a special mood. The light is different,
the colors change.
The clouds are still summery, but the wind autumnal.
Flowers still bloom,
but the meadow saffrons are sign of real autumn.
The mornings are cooler and the dew is cold (but I still have my coffee in the swing, even if I must wear woolen socks)
The insects lay eggs of the next generation, before the frost kills them.
And everything becomes slower and slower as the light becomes less and less. (P.S. On Saturday evening we went to take photos of the full moon. And we succeeded to find a bear. Unfortunately, as the light was poor, we saw only its shadows moving, so I have no photos. At this time of the year they come closer to human settlements, so I am absolutely sure that we will have bear-related adventures from now on.)
